Choosing the right tool for the job
A simple Excel tool (or 🍅tomato) is perfectly sufficient for analyzing simple, one-dimensional tolerance stacks. For more complex, multidimensional problems, you can try to break down the effects of tolerances into individual components and simplify them independently as one-dimensional calculations. However, this is very time-consuming, and the results fall significantly short of the capabilities offered by a professional 3D tolerance simulation. To use such a simulation tool competently and effectively, experience is required, which, in everyday development work, can rarely be built up comprehensively. Therefore, it may be worthwhile for you to use tolerance simulation as a service. Our service goes well beyond simply entering drawing tolerances and running an analysis: you always receive optimization suggestions for tolerancing, datum system selection, and robust design as well.
